Dores Top Alabama

PELHAM, A.L. – Junior forward Jebb Vincent recorded 2 goals in the Commodores 5-2 win against D2 Alabama Friday night. 

Vanderbilt improves to 3-0 on the season. 

Commodores scoring began with 8:40 left in the second period, with senior forward Val Sverdlov burying a feed from sophomore Kyle Fraser and freshman Drew Fietze. 

Jebb Vincent rounded out the Dores’ 2nd period offense with a goal assisted by Fraser.

Alabama netted two quick goals in the third to tie. Vanderbilt, however responded two minutes later with a redirect goal by Vincent off a shot from junior Trevor White. 

25 seconds later, sophomore Julian Yang capitalized off a pass from junior Christian Cottone to make it 4-2 Dores. 

Fraser rounded out the Vanderbilt scoring with 4:44 left in the game. 

Freshman goalie Micah Olson made crucial saves during the game to keep Alabama from taking the lead. 

Vanderbilt returns for the series finale October 9th, 6:30 PM at the Pelham Civic Center.

SCHEDULE UPDATE: EKU CANCELLED, GAMES VS. OLE MISS, CLEMSON ADDED

NASHVILLE, T.N. – Vanderbilt cancelled the Nov. 12th/13th series vs. Eastern Kentucky, following their suspension by the SECHC.

Vanderbilt will instead host Ole Miss for a one game matchup on Friday, Nov. 12th, at 8:00 PM CT. Dores will visit the Rebels in January.

The Commodores are also set to play Clemson for a two-game home series on Feb. 4th and 5th.

NOTEBOOK: ‘Dores Open Season vs. Chargers

Alabama-Huntsville Chargers visit the Dores in season-opening series on Friday, September 10th (8:00 pm) and Sunday, September 12th (11:00 AM)

  • Both Chargers and Dores play their first games since February 1st, 2020

  • Second season in which these two schools are meeting on the ice

  • Vanderbilt won both games since the last meeting

  • 13 players will make their Vanderbilt debut

  • Captains Wil Gonzales and Mike Brady will lead the Commodores this year

  • Ben Lackner ‘20 and Stan Pawlow join the Dores coaching staff

SCHEDULE UPDATE: SERIES vs. UAB CANCELLED

NASHVILLE, T.N. – The series between Vanderbilt and Birmingham has been cancelled, as of Aug. 21, 2021.

The Commodores were set to take on the Blazers on Sept. 24th and Sept 25th at home.

The cancellation of the games leaves a four-week window between competition, from the series vs. Huntsville on Sept. 10th and 12th, till the away series at Alabama on Oct. 8th and 9th.

The Dores will either schedule another team, or play an intrasquad scrimmage instead. Details will be announced at a later date.
